Demas Law Group, P.C., will be giving away a $100 gift card to a local store, Villa Sicilia Olive Oil, through our Facebook giveaway.

Villa Sicilia Olive Oil carries some of the finest olive oils and balsamic vinegars in the area. Owner Suzanne Lo Coco has roots in Sicily that led her into the restaurant industry. About nine months ago, Suzanne realized her dream: opening a shop that would not only allow her to supply fresh, pure and wholesome ingredients for chefs in the area and across the country, but also to educate the public on the facts about olive oil and balsamic vinegar, two of the main components of her inventory.

“At Villa Sicilia, we have one goal: to ensure that our ingredients are the purest and freshest available,” says Lo Coco, who seems like an expert on olive oil after having worked in the food industry for years. “It is vital that olive oil be of the highest quality possible in order to reap the health benefits that this amazing food has to offer.”

According to Lo Coco, who purchases all of her stock from Veronica Foods, an internationally-known family-owned supplier in Oakland, not all olive oils meet this strict, “Ultra-Premium” standard. There are two important components that must be present for olive oil to meet the Veronica Foods and, incidentally, the Villa Sicilia standards: freshness and chemistry.

“We will sell no olive oil that exceeds 0.3 in free-fatty-acids,” says Lo Coco. “This means that the ‘smoke point,’ or the temperature at which the oil will burn, is well over 400 degrees. This increases the oil’s cooking ability, making it suitable for use in all types of dishes.”

“Furthermore, we only purchase olive oil that has a very high polyphenol content. Polyphenols are the anti-oxidants that create so many of the health benefits good olive oil has to offer,” says Lo Coco.

Quality olive oil certainly conveys many health benefits to consumers. It has been shown to lower bad LDL cholesterol, fight cancer, obesity and heart disease, and even reduce the chances of osteoporosis and dementia. Villa Sicilia’s olive oil is guaranteed to be of the highest quality, and Lo Coco offers several bottle sizes. In addition, Villa Sicilia carries a variety of specialty food items, small production wines, and has many options for gift baskets, boxes, and bags. Shipping is available upon request.

Balsamic vinegar, another major item in Villa Sicilia’s inventory, also conveys many health benefits to consumers. Lo Coco purchases 18-year-old aged dark vinegar and 12-year-old light vinegar with no added ingredients, sugars or preservatives. Balsamic vinegar has been linked to reductions in blood glucose and will not spike blood sugar.

Suzanne Lo Coco and her staff are proud to be able to share their knowledge and their incredible quality products with the public, and Demas Law Group, P.C., is proud to be able to support this fantastic local Sacramento business!
